INTERVIEW

1. When did you start composing – and what or who were your early passions and influences?

Melvin Fromm Jr.: I started composing music seriously mid-summer 2015 after writing country music since 2000 and working with pro demo studio people making my music and having a radio DJ in Canada playing a lot of my music and doing 5 live phone interviews on his show and helping me grow in many countries I wanted to take a shot at doing my own music as I prayed to God for the best way to do it and God sent me a way to work with as all my contacts pointed me to top musicians with a long list of credits that include studio and stage performing with Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, Lonestar, Alicia Keys, Grateful Dead, Nickel Creek, Justin Timberlake, Jewel. Elton John,  Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, BB King, Sting, Janet Jackson, Kenny G, Mariah Carey, Aerosmith, Boys II Men, Michael Buble, Tim Mcgraw, Barbra Streisand, Alan Jackson, Billy Joel, Celine Deon, Nsync, Phil Collins, Michael Bolton, Madonna, Gloria Estefan, Josh Groban, Backstreet Boys, to name a few of a very long list.  Well my wife then girlfriend Percy came into my life and I was writing Percy a letter in 1999 and thought wow that sounds like a country song as my first song I had demo out was called “What I Feel” and needless to say Percy fell in love with the song and me too. God had a plan for me I never knew I had in me with music and it was not an easy road but I am truly grateful for all that have helped me and supported me in my music.

2. How did you get started?

Melvin Fromm Jr.: I had a lot of top musicians that wanted to work with me but I started out small with just guitar or piano demo with the music I began to write, produce & record as there was a lot of trial and error as I kept working and trusting God and people showing me the ropes to get better. I never gave up and kept pushing forward with the grace of God and today wow I can’t believe that’s my music I making and hearing how good and amazing it is as really all the glory I give to God for God’s plan for me in music and in my life.

3. What do you personally consider to be incisive moments in your work and/or career?

Melvin Fromm Jr.: Well there are three for me I feel. In 2000 when the Canada DJ started playing my music and had me on his show live via phone and would call me at night to see how I was doing and do I have any new music to send his way as this kept me going in the early days of music when I felt like giving up. I believe this DJ was an angel from God to keep me going in music and stay on my path. 2017 150 of my songs got picked up by the #1 Asian background music company and getting plays all across Asia. May 2018 I got picked up by the right record label and now have over 1,000 songs released with more every week to major digital stores in the entire world.  You can hear these new songs of many styles done by top musicians  @ https://open.spotify.com/artist/1XYMiKMdf9wQKfhvhUCeMk?si=pyl4MMCKQma7g5kvN8al3Q

4. How, do you feel, could contemporary compositions reach the attention of a wider audience?

Melvin Fromm Jr.: Well I do many styles of music from country, jazz, rock, easy listening, funk, soul, classical, pop, ect. as it seems to have a better chance to reach a wider audience worldwide.

5. Music-sharing sites and -blogs, as well as a flood of releases in general, are presenting both listeners and artists with challenging questions. What’s your view on the value of music today?

Melvin Fromm Jr.: It’s true there is a lot of music released today but some of the value of music really sounds like it was released from a bedroom and should stay there and not be released. My record label puts every song I release in control quality stage first to see if they will pass that before they go to the next stages to be released worldwide so I never put out bad sounding music as every song sounds like it should be played on the major radio and placed in films.

6. In what way does the abundance of music change our perception of it?

Melvin Fromm Jr.: People may think so much music to check out for what?. Well, there is really some good music out today so maybe people should think of it like finding a diamond in a ruff and once you find the really good music you fall in love with it will truly be worth it for the listeners and the hard-working artists.

7. What are the financial realities you’re living with and in which way, do you feel, could they be improved?

Melvin Fromm Jr.: Well starting out I gave away a lot of free music little or no pay but people heard me liked my music and with grace of God doors really started to open. I have had a lot of music deal offers come my way but I never took them as I would have not got paid much after looking over the contracts and the fine print. My music has landed 2 good deals the past 2 years and things are growing with grace of God and the new law just passed Oct. 11, 2018, that the streaming sites will pay more fairly to artists is a blessing from God as I will wait and see how this will unfold with the grace of God.

8. What are your goals/dreams for the future?

Melvin Fromm Jr.: Release all the best music I can and grow my listeners and fans all over the world with hard work like @ https://open.spotify.com/artist/1XYMiKMdf9wQKfhvhUCeMk?si=pyl4MMCKQma7g5kvN8al3Q

9. Please recommend two artists to our readers that you feel deserve their attention.

Melvin Fromm Jr.: 1. I always take time to listen to Joel Osteen Ministries Lakewood Church singers to praise God and give my life hope every single day as I really have a lot to be thankful for in my life. 2. Pastor Joel Osteen who teaches hope and God’s love for you and Oct 4, 2018 I had a chance to meet pastor Joel Osteen in person one of the nicest, kind, welcome, down to earth  person I have ever meet and if you need hope in your life where ever you are in life please look up Joel Osteen online. I use to be in a very dark place in my life as I was heading to Hollywood as a karate stuntman but a car crash not my fault change my life for the worse as I was sitting in a dark room one day when Joel Osteen came on talking about hope, your best days out in front of you and God loves you and I felt so much love and hope in my life as God gave me my wife, my music talent, and a very bright future I am grateful for so please don’t ever give up in life no matter what your facing right now.

Thanks & God Bless you all!
