In what period of your life were you exposed to the songs that really inspired or influenced you the most?
When I was young, during my primary, junior and senior education. Music has played the role as my parents and teachers. Music has been my way of life, growing up alone, it comforts me when I’m sad, it directs me when I am lost, the likes of Bob Marley, Osibisa, Tupac, Gentleman and many not mention were like guiding rod on my path.
How much would you say your success is down to hard work, and how much to your talent?
I will say, at the moment I am above average, and my talent is not only versatile in the field of music, but I am also into the fashion industry, that is textiles and clothing making (tailoring). Though cloth making (tailoring) is a family business, I have found a reason to make it part of my VishnuExpress brand, at the moment I’m furthering my education in textiles and fashion at the Turun-Ammatti-Instituutti, Finland.
Do you feel like it’s your role, to spread African music around the world?
I feel the need to help others, to create awareness and my music has done nothing apart from entertaining and to inform. I believe at the moment my music is spreading the African in me everywhere I have togo. I have perform at places people have express, how I am the first African to perform at such location.
You’ve also got some great vocal arrangements – did you grow up singing? What songs shaped you most?
Music has played a strong role in my life growing, my family like music, my relative play the piano and the organ at the church, myself have performed and sang at the church, we usually have singing and dance competition when we were kids. I will say all genre of music broaden my horizon and you can see from my songs on Spotify.
Do you have any ambitions beyond music?
Yes of course, my music, fashion, lifestyle and culture, secondly I am a certified farm and forestry administrator. My intentions and future ambition can be felt through music if people are honestly listening closely. I am what they call OMAPOMO MOVEMENT. Thefewmajority.
Tell us about Uusi Päivä single and how you met with Finnish recording rap free-stylist S-Molli?
Uusi Päivä that is a Finnish language, which means, ‘new day’, it was like the welcoming address for both, myself and S-Molli working together. it is also a motivational song, that helps to put the past behind and embrace the new beginning with a smile.
I like to work or collaborate with an artist, though it’s kind of hard, I always find a harmonious way dealing with everyone. I research a lot and through my research that is how I found S-Molli. I like his way of rap and has an African, I like the rap that has the break, the hook, aggressive verse and the style.
How does it feel to already have some established fans?
I feel accepted and that is the only reason I have to work extra hard.
