Taylor Swift attended the BMI Pop Awards last night, May 10th, with her mom, dad and brother, Austin. She was honoured at the ceremony with the first ever Taylor Swift awards, and the BMI Pop Songwriter of the year award after four of her singles – “Blank Space”, “Wildest Dreams”, “Style” and “Bad Blood”, off of her latest album ‘1989’ were named in the years most performed songs.
Taylor became the 2nd person in the BMI’s 76 year history to be honoured with a self title award. The only other recipient of a self titled award was Michael Jackson in 1990. The award celebrates Swift’s musical influence and her creative and artistic talent.
Swift looked stunning with her recently bleached hair in natural looking waves which framed her face. She donned a pale pink lip which contrasted perfectly with her dark patterned dress. She was her usual witty self when accepting her Taylor Swift Award saying: “I’m really super relieved that BMI decided to honour me with the Taylor Swift Award, because if they’d chose somebody else to give the Taylor Swift Award to I’d have been like kinda bummed about it!”
Other big winners on the night included Songwriting Duo Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil who received the BMI icon award, “Uptown Funk” which received the award for Song Of The Year and Sony who won the Publisher of The Year Award.
